Central European Media Enterprises (CME) is pleased to announce that distinguished journalist and media executive Sabine Christiansen will join the CME Editorial Board effective September 1, 2025. She will collaborate with current board members Hans Mahr and Roby Burke.
Sabine Christiansen is prominent figure in German media, with over 25 years at ARD, including a decade as presenter and deputy editor-in-chief of Tagesthemen. She later became a household name as the producer and host of her own prime-time political talk show. Today, as owner and managing partner of TV21 media, she continues to shape international political and economic discourse through conferences and media productions. Her commitment to social causes - including her work with UNICEF and the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation - complements her extensive experience in journalism and corporate governance.
Her appointment strengthens the CME Editorial Board, an independent expert group that plays a vital role in safeguarding the integrity, quality, and independence of CME’s news and current affairs programming across all markets. The board advises CME senior management and local news teams on editorial strategy, compliance, and innovation.
Its mission is to uphold CME’s Editorial Guidelines, which are rooted in values such as impartiality, independence, fairness, and respect. These guidelines ensure that all content is fact-based, transparent, and responsibly sourced, while reflecting the diversity of our societies and the public interest. The board provides guidance to local teams on complex editorial matters, offers oversight on editorial workflows including two-tier control, and encourages continuous improvement in production standards. It also serves as a bridge between CME and external stakeholders, reinforcing trust in CME’s editorial independence and excellence.
Sabine joins a distinguished group of media leaders: Hans Mahr, a leading Austrian/German journalist and media executive with over 40 years of experience, including senior roles at Kronen Zeitung and RTL, and founder of mahrmedia consultancy. Roby Burke, a seasoned media consultant and executive with a background at ABC News, WTN, and CME, and leadership roles in digital media and global content distribution.
Together, the board will continue to uphold CME’s commitment to editorial excellence, independence, and innovation.
