Prague, October 23, 2026:
CME announced today that, through its CME Social Impact Center, it has joined forces with Think-Film Impact Production as the impact partner of Michał Marczak's acclaimed documentary Closure. CME will release the film on its streaming platforms Oneplay (Czech Republic) and Voyo (Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia) on November 9, 2026, alongside an impact campaign across its television channels and online news sites in several countries. Ahead of the release, the film screens at the Czech Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival.
Closure follows Daniel, a Polish father whose 16-year-old son Chris was last seen on a bridge over the Vistula River in Warsaw. Long after the official search has ended, Daniel builds his own search boat and scours the river himself as he keeps looking for answers. The film is an intimate portrait of grief, hope and the unbearable cost of not knowing – and of a family that, in the middle of its own loss, begins helping others in similar circumstances.
Now on the European Film Awards Documentary Shortlist 2027, Closure had its world premiere in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. It has since screened at festivals around the world, including True/False, DC/DOX, Sheffield DocFest, Doc10 in Chicago and soon at DOK Leipzig and IDFA. At the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival it won the Golden Alexander for Best Documentary, and at Millennium Docs Against Gravity it received the Best Cinematography Award, the Silesian Audience Award and the Arthouse Cinema Association Award.
The partnership is the first acquisition by the CME Social Impact Center, which CME launched at this year's Cannes Film Festival to produce, co-produce and support socially impactful content that drives positive change in Central and Eastern Europe. The impact campaign will run across CME's television networks and online news websites and will focus on the growing sense of loneliness among young people and on ways parents can connect with them.
“To me, Closure is a film about searching: searching for answers, for evidence and, most of all, for an understanding of what happened and whether it could have been prevented. It is exactly the kind of story the CME Social Impact Center was created for. Our channels and platforms reach millions of people across Central and Eastern Europe every day, and we want to use that reach not only to show this extraordinary film, but to start conversations in families and communities about connection and the help that is often within reach,” said Hana de Goeij, founder of the CME Social Impact Center.
Closure was produced by Monika Braid, two-time Oscar® nominee Rémi Grellety (I Am Not Your Negro, Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat), Michał Marczak, Katarzyna Szczerba and Karolina Marczak, and co-produced by Sara Skrodzka. The deal was negotiated by Think-Film Impact Production on behalf of the filmmakers with CME.
